Dominique Tannous was the only fencer to wear « LIB » on her fencing jacket. The crowd composed of mainly of US citizens, Canadians, people from Great Britain and Japan as well. Many spectators incorrectly guessed that « LIB » was the symbol for  Libya or Liberia.

Dominique Tannous had a rough start for the day, she had injury to her leg from practice that was bothering her, she was tired  and slightly under the weather from the long travel to the event. The  epee pool of ladies was diverse and formidable. Dominique Tannous had to work hard for each touch because the crowd wanted the girl from « LIB » to be beaten. However, Dominique Tannous with the guidance of her coaches defeated all of her opponents. Dominique Tannous swept her pools with 6 victories and zero losses.

Shortly thereafter, Dominique Tannous began a tougher direct elimination round and with unrelenting resolve she defeated her opponent 15-10.
At this point, Dominique Tannous was beginning to feel very tired and sore. The time difference was effecting her slightly. Although, her friends and clubmates cheered her onward..

However, Dominique Tannous fought hard to stay in the game and won her 3rd direct elimination 15-13. At this point, we were extremely happy that Lebanon had made it to the top eight. Dominique Tannous next would fence a very worthy opponent.
Due to the increasing pain in her leg, her coach worked with her to lessen the pain. In a nail biting match, Dominique Tannous won the direct elimination round 14-13  in overtime with priority to her opponent.

Next Dominique Tannous would face another highly experienced and very  strong opponent from USA  and world team member.
